Kate Winslet has spoken out on the night when Richard Branson's beautiful Necker Island home caught fire, and her amazing rescue of her now family member.
Kate made headlines back in 2011 when she was one of the many guests at Branson's paradise retreat forced to flee the island when a devastating fire ripped through the private resort.
Amazing Kate rescued Branson's elderly mother Eve during the incident, with the trip also marking her first meeting with future husband Ned Rocknroll. Talk about an eventful holiday!
As the cover star of the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar, Kate opens up about that night, telling the magazine: "We really could have died. The house burned to the ground."
On her rescue of Eve, the actress adds: "I carried her out of the house and down some very slippery stone steps. Lucky she's tiny! She's my son's great-grandmother now, so it's such a strange thing to talk about".

Winslet also spoke about her husband, who she married in a secret wedding in December 2012, gushing: "Nobody knows him - it's brilliant. They like to think they know him. They like to be judgemental because of his name and everything, but it's fabulous because no one knows anything about him."
The couple have set up home with their five month old baby Bear and Kate's two other children Mia and Joe in the UK but the Brit actress is a regular in Los Angeles thanks to her work. Atter recently returning from Tinseltown following her Divergent promo rounds, the star admits "it's a very strange place to be because the truth is, I'm not famous until I am in those moments".
"Those are the times when I am suddenly famous. My real life is a very real life."
