"Magic Mike" fans can see Channing Tatum show off his dramatic chops in the new film "Foxcatcher," whose trailer was released Monday.
The film is based on the true story about wealthy yet eccentric heir John du Pont (Steve Carell), whose goal is to create a top-notch wrestling team to compete in the 1998 Olympics. He recruits Mark and Dave Schultz (Tatum and Mark Ruffalo), a pair of brothers who are both wrestling champions.
Carell, best known for the TV comedy "The Office," is nearly unrecognizable as the gray-haired and paunchy du Pont. Based on the trailer, he seems to have an antagonistic relationship with Mark, the younger of the two brothers, at one point slapping him across the face.
"A coach is a father, a coach is a mentor, a coach has great power in an athlete's life," du Pont says during the clip. The trailer concludes with an ominous shot of Carell's character holding a gun in the gym where the wrestling team is training.
The movie premiered Monday at Cannes Film Festival and is due out in theaters Nov. 14.
