Ella Henderson has said that she learned to be "cut-throat" in the recording studio when working on her upcoming debut album.
The hotly-tipped X Factor graduate, who competed alongside James Arthur and Lucy Spraggan on the 2012 season, is set to release her debut single 'Ghost' next month, ahead of long-player Chapter One.
In an interview with Wonderland magazine, she discussed the recording process, saying: "I don't wanna copy anyone, I didn't want to do a retro record. I wanted to do something new, and fresh.

"In the beginning I was open to anything, but you figure out what your sound is, and when you go into sessions there's certain things you have to be open, and honest on."
She added: "When it comes to my music, when it's your job, you can be cutthroat about things."
'Ghost' is co-written by Ryan Tedder, who previously launched fellow X Factor star Leona Lewis to worldwide glory with 'Bleeding Love'
"I wanted to make this big record and have it played worldwide, and he knows a special formula to write songs like that," Ella explained.
