She first stepped into the spotlight on the UK X Factor as Cheryl Cole's superstar in the making.
But it seems Cher Lloyd is a little less known across the pond, as a publicist had to hold up a name placard informing the press and public exactly who the 20-year-old pint sized pop princess is on the red carpet outside Los Angeles' Supperclub on Wednesday.
Although Cher, 20, looked every inch the American singer, showing off long wavy blonde tresses that wouldn't look out of place on Californian beach, her identity clearly needed to be clarified.

The Malvern-born singer, who was famously mentored by Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, was there for the Star Magazine Hollywood Rocks party.
Sporting and impressive blonde mane, she wore her blonde hair in a bouffant fringe with a cascade of curls over he shoulder.
She capped her glamorous look with a feminine floral two-piece, consisting of a sleeveless top and a micro mini-skirt.

Together, the look showed Cher in a lighter, brighter look which will no doubt be a result of her time on America's east coast.
The singer has previously admitted she likes to mix up the way her locks look because she gets fed-up very easily. She said: 'I get very bored with hairstyles. Like this one time I dyed my hair bright red — it looked vile, but I thought it was cool because it was different. My favourite is just messy. Like you don't brush it or anything, you just wake up and it's done.'
Speaking about the time she shaved the side of her head into a dramatic punky style, she added: 'It wasn't a bet, I was rebelling.
'I'm a rebel like that. If someone says I can't do something, I'll go ahead and do it straight away.'

Fortunately for Cher, she is married to a hairdresser. Cher surprised her fans in November by marrying her boyfriend of two years, Craig Monk, and uploading a picture onto Instagram with a simple love heart caption alongside it.
Her spokesman confirmed the happy news to MailOnline saying: 'Cher and Craig are married but all other details are private.'
