Justin Bieber has been let loose.
After being detained nearly four hours by U.S. Customs after he flew into Los Angeles International Airport, the Canadian pop star was just finally allowed to leave.
He left at around 6:20 p.m. with four bodyguards in tow. Two SUVs and one black Mercedes van had been waiting for the group to emerge from the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Bieber climbed into one of the SUVs and was driven away.
He was smiling as he exited the airport but had nothing to say to the throng of paparazzi assembled outside.
The 20-year-old singer had arrived on an Air Singapore flight from Tokyo, where Bieber had been seeing the sights and spending time with his mother, Pattie Mallette.
About a dozen Beliebers were also on hand, including one girl whom we heard saying, "Oh...my...God, I will actually die if I don't see him."
No information was forthcoming about what Customs wanted to talk to him about, but this wasn't the first time that officials have wanted to question the 20-year-old singer upon his return to the United States from outside the country.
Bieber was also briefly detained while traveling from Canada to New Jersey for Super Bowl festivities in February.
Officials at Teterboro Airport questioned him and searched the group's private jet for drugs before granting the star and his entourage entry into the States after being tipped off to the possible presence of marijuana onboard. The search came up empty and the entire party was allowed to proceed.
Bieber has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license stemming from his January arrest in Miami. He has also been charged with assault in connection with an alleged incident involving a limo driver in Toronto back in December.
Reps for Bieber had no comment on what occurred today in L.A.
