He married Ms Field, 34, in the grounds of his Beverly Hills mansion in August 2010, with their daughter Theodora born two years later.

Earlier this year, Robbie had a teddy tattooed onto his forearm in honour of his first child.

The etching was not his first nod towards his pride and joy, with his last single Go Gentle written about his daughter.

He said: '[The track is about being] worried she might meet someone like me – and what she should do if she does.'

He also revealed he was enjoying his role as a parent, saying: 'So far so good – it's been an absolute pleasure to love her and care for her.'

Williams was was once dismissed as the 'fat dancer from Take That' by Oasis' Noel Gallagher, but he became one of the biggest stars of British music.

The Stoke-born singer first hit the headlines as a chirpy wannabe in the group that was billed as the British answer to US group New Kids On The Block.

He quit the group in the mid-1990s and embarked on a solo career which included a mainstay of the karaoke club, Angels.

Williams also battled personal demons - drink and drugs - along the way and often said success had not necessarily led to happiness.

And Williams enjoyed a return to the pop charts with his album Swings Both Ways, which soared to the number one spot at the end of last year.
