'Pretty Good Way To Wake Up': Iggy Azalea Tops US iTunes Chart With Debut Album 'The New Classic'

Iggy Azalea has plenty to celebrate this week as her debut album 'The New Classic' has stormed the US iTunes chart at number one with fans racing to purchase her long-awaited record, while she marked the release date with a performance on Good Morning America today.

After months of delays, the blonde bombshell finally released her debut LP in the US today and it's already proved to be a smash hit after topping the US iTunes chart and debuting in the top 10 in more than 10 countries.

Reacting to the sudden success, Iggy tweeted this morning: "Number 1 on us iTunes! pretty good way to wake up! Thankyou guys!

"To those buying the album, my amazing azaleans..thanku..your messages are meaning the world 2 me..so glad you like the album..let's get it!"

The work didn't stop though as Iggy, 21, then headed down to Good Morning America in New York City where she performed her latest single 'Fancy,' which features Charli XCX and peaked at number five on the UK charts earlier this month.

Dressed in monochrome outfits, Iggy was flanked by a group of dancers wearing similar ensembles to wake America up with the infectious pop track which was inspired by '90s cult comedy Clueless.

'The New Classic' features the rest of Iggy's singles including 'Change Your Life' and 'Work' as well as collaborations with T.I., Mavado, Watch The Duck and Rita Ora on 'Black Widow' which was written by Katy Perry.

Iggy announced last week that she'll be supporting the album with a one-off show at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire in September, following on from her performance at the 2014 Wireless Festival where she'll join the likes of Kanye West and Pharrell Williams on the bill.
