Avril Lavigne's loyal fans have leapt to the poor Canadian star's defence amid a largely poor reception for her new music video.
'Hello Kitty' has been unveiled as the fourth cut from her eponymous album, and the reaction to it online from casual consumers has been far from ideal.
BuzzFeed have dubbed it "the most cringe-worthy video of the year" while PopJustice have just gone for a flat-out "terrible".
While some have acknowledged that the song is ultimately "catchy" and "addictive", the majority seem to be decidedly against the whole thing.
