Her character of Joan Harris on Mad Men is known for her glamorous and revealing sense of style, featuring plenty of plunging necklines.

But Christina Hendricks opted to cover up in an elegant black blazer as she arrived with husband Geoffrey Arrend to the Broadway premiere of Hedwig And The Angry Inch on Tuesday night.

And Christina was not the only one to choose a suave black blazer for the evening out as Amanda Seyfried made her own sleek arrival in a nearly identical garment with her actor beau Justin Long in tow.

The 28-year-old Mean Girls star looked perfectly relaxed as she sauntered into the theatrical premiere in a pair of lace-up boots.

Staying casual, she sported a black dress as she pinned her blonde locks into a tight ponytail.

Justin for his part, who has been dating Seyfried for eight months, was casual in jeans, a T-shirt, and a blue blazer.

Meanwhile, Christina, 38, sported a leather skirt as she let her red hair cascade in flowing waves over her shoulders.

And her husband was equally stylish in a pin stripe suit as he looked handsome with a thin moustache.

Also, in attendance was Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Yoko Ono, and Kelly Ripa.

Neil Patrick Harris plays Hedwig, a transgender East German performer who explains her tortured path from Berlin to a mobile home in Kansas to New York, in the revival.

Along the way, she has lost a piece of her manhood (the remainder is the rest of the show's title.)

The show has a renovated book by John Cameron Mitchell - who also played the first Hedwig - and songs by Stephen Trask that straddle the line between rock 'n' roll and traditional musical theater.

A cult off-Broadway hit in 1998, Hedwig led to a 2001 feature film and has seemingly been waiting for Harris ever since.

The revival sees all new dialogue for the character of Hedwig, with updated cultural references.

The Broadway production premiered on Tuesday at the Belasco Theater and is scheduled to run until August 17.
