"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" captured the top prize at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.
The blockbuster film picked up the golden popcorn-shaped statuette for the night's biggest award, movie of the year.
The awards show, which aired live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, kicked off with host Conan O'Brien started the show with a challenge to gain 50 celebrity cameos for his opening segment, a shtick with Will Arnett that merged two categories, best fight and best kiss, and a musical number about hating musical numbers in big awards shows.

Walking out to a track by rapper Rick Ross, O'Brien joked that he was almost injured by the show's flashing pyrotechnics. "Fire, explosions and rap music: all things you associate with Conan O'Brien," he joked.
Jared Leto was the first winner of the night, picking up the best on-screen transformation prize for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club." The award was presented to him by "12 Years a Slave" star Lupita Nyong'o.
"A year ago nobody knew my name," the actress quipped. "Now no one can pronounce my name."
Furthering the on-going speculation that Nyong'o and Leto are romantically linked, Leto, in a deep and suave tone, said, "It's an award in itself to get that from her."
Leto later presented Mila Kunis with the award for best villain for "Oz the Great and Powerful."
"You just made my 12-year-old-self's dream come true," she said while holding her golden popcorn prize. "And I just realized I'm the only woman nominated and I won!"

MTV Movie Awards 2014 show highlights
Late-night funnyman Conan O'Brien hosted MTV's annual awards show with golden popcorn statues and zany categories
Accepting the award from Jessica Alba and Rita Ora for best shirtless performance for "That Awkward Moment," Zac Efron hesitated to take his shirt off on stage until Ora ripped it open. He then finished the job and took it off.
Receiving this year's trailblazer award was Channing Tatum. The first male to gain the honor after Emma Stone and Emma Watson, Tatum accepted the award from his "Jupiter Ascending" co-star Kunis and his "22 Jump Street" co-star Jonah Hill. Tatum admitted he thought he was being punked when he found out he would get the award.
"It's weird because 10 years ago I was sitting in front of my TV watching the show just like people at home right now, and I didn't have the faintest thought that I could be up here talking to y'all," Tatum said.
Earlier in the evening, Amanda Seyfried had trouble reading the teleprompter, blaming it on not wearing her contacts. "So far this is going about as well as the Oscars," said her co-presenter Seth MacFarlane -- joking about his 2013 Academy Award hosting gig -- before the pair presented Hill with his award for best comedic performance for "The Wolf of Wall Street."
Hill's initial thanks went to all of his friends with whom he used to watch the show back home before making it to the ceremony himself.
The show was also featured a special honor given to Mark Wahlberg, and a special tribute for Paul Walker, who died in a car crash last November.
Pre-show honors went to the Backstreet Boys for best musical moment and Rihanna for best cameo performance for her appearance in the comedy "This is the End." During the show, Rihanna took the stage with Eminem to perform their hit "The Monster." Singer Ellie Goulding and the duo Twenty One Pilots also performed.
The award for best kiss went to Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter -- but because only Poulter was in attendance, they couldn't continue the show's tradition of kissing live on stage.
"American Hustle" and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" topped the nominees on the two-hour show, where fans voted online for such zany awards as best villain.
But more important to the Hollywood studios, the MTV Movie Awards have become the ideal platform to promote their summer movies. This year's show promises exclusive footage from blockbusters like "Spider-Man 2" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Some of the films' stars, including Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Ellen Page, will introduce the clips.
Presenters this year included Leto, Megan Fox, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Rita Ora, among others.
