By Daily Mail Reporter

After questioning her 'right to be on this earth', Lucy Kay sailed through to the next round of Britain's Got Talent 2014 on Saturday night following an emotional performance.

Receiving a standing ovation from the judging panel and audience alike, the 24-year-old opera singer from Glasgow broke down after wowing with Puccini's Vissi d'arte.

Prior to nervously taking the stage, viewers heard how the brunette beauty had been bullied for years before leaving her hometown of Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire.

Movingly speaking to the camera, her mother Glenis told how her confidence had been knocked when she split from Lucy's father.

After Lucy told her all she wanted to do was sing after being left thinking she had nothing to live for, she showed off her astounding operatic voice, despite admitting to Ant and Dec afterwards that she thought she was going to get buzzed.

Judge David Walliams later told her: 'You are very beautiful, with an even more beautiful voice. We were all incredibly moved.'

Be all white on the night with a tailored blazer

Amanda Holden looked like a Daz's doorstep challenge winner as she filmed Britain's Got Talent!

The BGT judge wore a structured white blazer by Alexander McQueen, which she teamed with a white pencil skirt and red lips.

Bright white tones are a huge trend for Spring/Summer 2014, and crisp white blazers in particular ruled the runways at Victoria Beckham, Jil Sander and Simone Rocha.

If wearing a top-to-toe white look puts the fear of God into you, try teaming a blazer like Amanda's with pastel shades, dark wash denim or even Spring metallics.

Just avoid consuming anything that is anything but clear - great if you have the appetite of a stick insect, but otherwise you could always wrap yourself in cling film.

Amanda's blazer is a blow out at £1221, but you can get the look on the high street for as little as £30 at Matalan, Asos, Topshop and M&S.

Alesha Dixon told her: 'We were with you all the way. You have a gift. It felt wonderful to listen to,' with Amanda Holden adding: 'I couldn't take me eyes off you.

'Just beautiful, I could have listened to you all afternoon.'

The best praise of all came from Simon who said: 'I've heard a lot of stories like yourself. Today's the day you forget about those people for the rest of your life.

'Some of the best singers do sing through pain, and you have learnt how to use that. Today's the day you learn how to smile properly. Really, really special'.

Speaking in her first interview since her audition with the Daily Mirror, Lucy told how the cruel jibes turned into violent beatings at the school gate when she was 11 which saw her 'slammed into a lampost' and knocked unconscious.

She said: 'It was hard leaving the house after that. It was the fear more than anything that got to me. I do feel like I really missed out on some of the things other kids enjoyed.'

Britain's Got Talent continues on ITV1 on Saturday at 7.15pm.
