5 Seconds Of Summer Triumph At The Kerrang Awards

Huge congrats to 5 Seconds of Summer tonight, who have scooped the Best International Newcomer gong at the Relentless Kerrang Awards.

The band have their fans to thank for the gong, with their devoted followers voting for the win. Those votes helped the group beat Crossfaith, Issues, State Champs and We Came As Romans.

5 Seconds of Summer's nomination was met with some criticism at the awards, which are traditionally dominated by heavier rock bands.

The Aussies retweeted the big news, with Michael Clifford adding:

"Honored to win the @KerrangMagazine award for best international newcomer. thanks all of you for voting your amazing love u guys ❤️"

Elsewhere in tonight's awards, Deep Purple have been inducted into the Kerrang Hall of Fame, while Gerard Way picked up the Hero gong.

You Me At Six won Best British Band, beating hot contenders including Biffy Clyro and Iron Maiden. Fall Out Boy thrashed Green Day and Glastonbusy headliners Metallica to the Best International Band trophy.
