'You are the best magician we have ever had': Illusionist Darcy Oak wows judges in BGT as others are branded having 'the showmanship of a doughnut'

You can rely on Britain's Got Talent for a varied look at the different things people like to call 'talent'.

Despite seeing diverse performances from a spoon dancer, motorbike stunt group and mask wearing recorder player it was more the classic disciplines which won over the judges on Saturday's Britain's Got Talent.

A magician who produced doves from flames, an eccentric violinist and charismatic young singer were the top favourites of judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, ! Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

Lady Entrancetress was the first eccentric performer trying her luck to be crowned a talent, dressed in a black sequin mask, she announced her aim of her audition should she be so lucky to excel in the talent competition:

'my big ambition is to get everyone in Britain playing the recorder again'

Although sadly the result was tuneless, perhaps because she revealed she had only ever practiced! in a forest before.

The musical ins! trument led Simon to imitate charming a snake: 'have you heard yourself play? I honest to god thought a snake was going to come out'

Less impressive were a duo - Operadoo - who attempt to combine opera with didgeridoo playing.

The couple, from Kent, fall foul of Cowell who tells them: 'There are certain things that don't go well together. It's like sticking a bowl of strawberry ice cream with a sausage.'

Lettice Rowbotham also impressed the judges - and the audience - with her electric violin and David Walliams told her: 'I think you might be the poshest contestant we've had on the show.'

The well spoken young lady confidently announced before her performance: 'I am too hungover to be nervous, which I think is great!'

Waltzing her way through three chart tracks with her own violin version, the blonde beauty impressed the judges.

Amanda admitted: 'you just had me at hello, you made the violin sexy'

Whilst Alesha praised: 'you are a skilled musician, I loved it'

Simon was quick to give his compliments: 'Lettice, not only are you brilliant, you have a fantastic personality as well, you are one of the people I am going to remember coming away from this'

Chris the modest magician was up yet, who confessed he didn't think he was that good or that he could win, with Simon giving his verdict: 'you have the showmanship of a doughnut'

Darcy, 26, from Canada revealed he had traveled all the way from his home country to impress the judges, starting with turning a flame into four doves, which wowed the judges speechless, he then produced a cage from a flame, and then a beautiful assistant.

David was quick to offer his praise: 'Darcy I think you are the best magician we have already had on the show'

Amanda: 'I think the most important thing about magic is making us believe the impossible is possible, and you just made us do that'

Simon was firstly concerned about the welfare of the animals, 'are those birds ok?' and got a unanimous vote of yes from the judges.

Adorable 15-year-old James from Upminster said his reason for competing on the talent show: 'I would love to make my parents proud as its the best feeling'

Singing Birds Flying High by Nina Simone, the floppy haired teenager impressed the crowds and the judges receiving a standing ovation from the audience.

Knife thrower Edward Pinder, an 11-year-o! ld circus performer, took to the stage for an act which saw him throwing sharp objects at his assistant/mother, Erika Pinder.

As the judges watched on, Simon admitted he was tempted to join in on the fun, joining the youngster on stage. Edward get the show supremo a close shave with a flying blade which left the judges open-mouthed.

Simon admitted: 'I kind of felt my life going in front of me then', before Amanda Holden told Edward: 'You nearly killed Simon Cowell.'

Taking to the ramp outside the stunt motorbike group Boldog FMX drove up ramps and did a series of tricks in the air, which had the judges putting their hands over their mouths.

The groups tricks included a 360 degree backward rotation, which they call gymnastics on a bike.

After watching the daredevil stunts Alesha said: 'that was a millions times better than I could have imagined', Amanda added: 'it was terrifyingly brilliant'

Simon quipped: 'if you were to win and perform on the royal variety, would you have to have tiny motorbikes?'

The biggest surprise of the night came as David threw his precious gold button vote to Christian Spridon, who performed Tom Jones' Sex Bomb with a lot of bravado wearing a blue tartan blazer and calf high brown boots.

David gave tartan wearing Christian a lifeline, pressing the golden button after hearing his rendition of Sex Bomb, in disbelief to the other judges, and much to the annoyance of Simon Cowell, who refused to speak to him after the rest of the judges voted against the performer.

Britain's Got Talent is on IT1 on Saturdays at 7pm
