When the creators of Game Of Thrones promised us that season four would be non-stop from the beginning they weren't messing around.
We've already seen The Red Wedding and tonight it was the turn of The Purple Wedding and as expected , it had some terrible consequences. Last nights episode was called "The Lion and the Rose" and we're going to take a look at five things we learned from it though beware, spoilers do lie ahead so if you haven't seen the episode then you might want to stop reading right now.
1. The Purple Wedding goes ahead but it's not a happy ending.
By now we all know that when it comes to a wedding in Game Of Thrones that nothing ever goes to plan and the Purple Wedding between Margaery Tyrell and King Joffrey was never going to have that happy ending. Things all seem to go to plan, King Joffrey has all his entertainment lined up to please his new King and seemingly make his old one (Sansa) jealous.

After watching a bunch of dwarfs fight as Kings, Joffrey decides it's time to humiliate his Uncle Tyrion by asking him to get onto the make belief battle field. When Tyrion suggests that perhaps the King should himself prove he is worthy of that title Joffrey isn't pleased and forces Tyrion to fetch him some wine. After finding the goblet that Joffrey kicks away (thanks to Sansa who found it under the table) Tyrion fills up the goblet with wine and hands it to Joffrey, after cutting the cake Joffrey takes a drink of the win and then disaster strikes. Joffrey begins choking, he can't stop coughing and as he vomits and rolls around on the ground, comforted by Jaime and Cersei he points back to Tyrion who is picking up the goblet which has ultimately killed the King. Cersei though, intent on making Tyrion's life miserable as always has him arrested immediately, putting all the blame on him - who was it though?
There are plenty of people who would want the King dead. It could have been anyone at the wedding. One thing is for sure, the next few episodes are definitely going to be unmissable and so far, season four is proving one of the best we've seen.
2. Ramsay Snow makes his first appearance this season.
It's all fun and games in Game Of Thrones as usual and Ramsay Snow, a young girl named Miranda and Theon Greyjoy were seen hunting down (with the help of some wild dogs) a helpless girl who in turn end up eating her face off - though it's not something we got to see on-screen. Phew. Thats not all though as Roose (Ramsay's father) is also seen in this episode when he witnesses Theon Greyjoy admit that he didn't actually kill Bran and Rickon Stark. Theon finds out however that Robb Stark is dead and for a brief moment it looks like he wants to cut Ramsay's throat.
3. Bran, Hodor and the gang are still alive but what do they discover?
It's all about finding out where everyone else is in this episode it seems - until of course The Purple Wedding and we finally get to hear Hodor for the first time this season - though he doesn't say much. Bran as we know can enter into Summer's mind and can "warg" around though in this episode he was reminded that he can't do that for too long otherwise he'll forget that his human self also has needs as he explained to the group that as Summer he felt hungry. There's also a moment where Bran finds an incredibly odd looking tree that when he touches it he hears someone say "Look for me beneath the tree... North" - who could it be though?
4. Tyrion tells Shae it's time to go but she's not happy - does she go willingly?
Tyrion is forced to break the heart of his favourite "w****" if you will by forcing her to leave King's Landing because as he's reminded his father will hang the next one he finds him with. During the breakfast of the wedding however, after Tyrion has broken the heart of Shae, Cersei points out Shae to her father and later at the wedding we learn that Bronn watched her leave on a ship. Did he really though? Did Tywin get to her before Bronn could? Is Bronn just protecting his friend?

5. Jaime Lannister fears he may never be a good fighter again after losing his good hand.
While at breakfast with Tyrion, Jaime asks him how he can protect the king now that he has lost the use of his good hand, the hand he'd use to wield a sword? Feeling like an outcast of the family, much like Tyrion, he is given time with Bronn on a cliff next to the sea where they fight it out and Bronn gets the chance to offer up some pretty funny one-liners, as usual. Will Jaime ever get back to fighting how he used to, now that he has to use his other hand and his family seem to have lost all hope and respect for him?
