Game of Thrones fans have been up in arms all week after seeing yet another face being suddenly killed off.
The demise of (SPOILER ALERT!) Joffrey in the latest instalment from George RR Martin's books has kept viewers of the hit HBO/Sky Atlantic broadcast talking, as the loathsome character became just the latest in a long line of faces to be axed as part of shocking twists.
But while Game Of Thrones does seem to have the monopoly on unexpected deaths, it's certainly not the first show to pull the rug from underneath its viewership's feet.
